A POLICEMAN allegedly shot and killed the brother of his live-in partner during a confrontation in Sitio Kawot, Barangay Bankal in Lapu-Lapu City yesterday morning.

Golgie Donor, 26, died from two gunshot wounds, said PO1 Jomar Florentino of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office's Homicide Section.

PO2 Franklin Bulaquia, 37, who is assigned at Mabolo Police Station of Cebu City Police Office, surrendered to authorities past 5 p.m.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim and his brother Roello were having breakfast when the policeman barged into their house at 9:30 a.m.

Bulaquia kicked the siblings without provocation. Golgie tried to prevent the policeman from kicking Roello again, but Bulaquia shot him twice.

The policeman allegedly used a 9mm pistol, an issued firearm. Two empty shells of 9mm pistol were recovered by the police from the crime scene.

Golgie was rushed to the Mactan Doctor's Hospital, but he died. The suspect immediately fled, but surrendered to police later.

Florentino told Sun.Star Cebu that Bulaquia allegedly confronted the brothers upon learning that they threatened to harm him.

The policeman’s live-in partner, Golgie’s half-sister, is allegedly a victim of abuse.

Bulaquia will undergo a paraffin test and his firearm will be subjected to a ballistic examination. He will be facing a complaint of homicide.

Meanwhile, one of the suspects behind the assassination plot on Asturias Vice Mayor Joel Dumdum was shot and wounded yesterday night by two persons on a motorcycle in Barangay Poblacion.

Archie Alvarado sustained several gunshot wounds and was rushed to Balamban District Hospital, said Insp. Philip John Libres, the town's police chief.

As of 8 last night, Libres said they still do not have updates on Alvarado’s condition.

According to initial investigation by the police, Alvarado was riding a bicycle when he was attacked by unidentfied assailants in front of a gasoline station at 6 p.m.

Last Feb., Alvarado was arrested by the police on suspicion he served as local contact of the group behind the assassination plot on Dumdum.
