A 50-year-old man and his 15-year-old daughter were hacked by their relative in Barili, Cebu last Sunday afternoon.
Ceriaco Labora, 49, allegedly got angry at his brother-in-law, Melchor Fat, after the latter asked him to open the windows of their house.
Labora got a bolo and hacked Fat, who managed to parry the attack. He was wounded in his left arm.
Fat’s daughter, who tried to stop her uncle, suffered injury in her left thigh.
SPO2 Marcelo Quevedo, of Barili Police Station, said the victims were taken to Barili District Hospital for treatment.
Quevedo said they are still waiting for the medical results so they can prepare charges against Labora.
Barili Police arrested Labora and detained him at the station.
In Barangay Pasil, Cebu City, at 1 p.m. last Sunday, an alleged gun-for-hire was shot by his friend on Forbes Bridge, Tupas St.
According to the police’s initial investigation, Alfredo Bacalla, 30, a resident of M. de la Concepcion, Barangay Pasil, Cebu City was shot by a man identified only as Nicole, from Balagtas St.
SPO1 Ruth Bongo-Violango of the Cebu City Police Office-Homicide Section said personal grudge could be the motive of the attack.
Bacalla said he saw Nicole on the bridge shooting at him several times and wounding him in his lips.
Police said the victim had been jailed for murder and illegal possession of firearms this year. But the case was dismissed after the complainant didn’t file a case against him.
Bongo-Violango also said Bacalla and Nicole were blamed for a number of shootings. Nheru Veraflor/John Cavin Sabonsolin, USJ-R Mass Com Interns
