A TAXI driver was reportedly robbed and killed in Barangay Pilhaom, Consolacion, Cebu at dawn yesterday.

Felimon Borden of Barangay Apas, Cebu City was found inside his cab in a secluded area in Purok Manga at 5:30 a.m.

PO1 Rechie Gilliran, investigator of the Consolacion Police Station, said Borden was shot in the back of the head.

Two residents called police yesterday regarding a man who was found lying with blood on him inside a VBL taxi (GWR-557).

Police didn’t find Borden’s cellular phone, but they recovered P1,200 from his pocket.

They believe the money was rent for that day and Borden was about to remit it to the taxi operator.

“Posible nakuha gyud to iyang kita. Lain-lainon kuno ni nila og butang ang kwarta sa kita ug para remit (It’s possible the perpetrator took his earnings. I heard drivers put their earnings and rent money in different places),” Gilliran told Sun.Star Cebu.

Ballistic examination

Police recovered three live ammunitions from a .45 pistol a few meters from the crime scene. These will be submitted to the PNP Regional Crime Laboratory Office 7 for ballistic examination.

Gilliran said there were no witnesses since the area is secluded.

“Atong gi-trace karon asa ni siya gikan ug posible kinsa nakakita niya (We’re trying to determine where Borden was last and if someone saw him),” he said.

Gilliran said two men may have been behind the killing. The crime could have also have happened before 8 p.m.

“Murag nisukol siguro ni siya mao napusilan (It looked like the driver fought back that was why he was shot),” he said.

On regular days, Borden would be back at the garage by 8 p.m.

Last Friday, his companions and the operator called and texted him asking where he was, but he didn’t respond.

“Nahibong na sila ngano wala naabot kay maabot man gyud kuno na siya on time. Mao nato nabalita nga nakitan siya diri sa Consolacion (They wondered where he was since he was always on time. Next thing they know, his body was found in Consolacion),” Gilliran said.
