CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama is pushing for a Binay and Aquino tandem for the 2016 presidential elections.

This time, Vice President Jejomar Binay will run in the presidential post while President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III will be his vice president.

Rama said the tandem will be called “Binoy,” which stands for Binay and Noynoy.

“I’m serious about it, they are unbeatable beyond imagination,” Rama told reporters.

Rama’s reaction came after he was asked about what he thinks on a Grace Poe and Francis “Chiz” Escudero tandem.

He said will not support that, instead, he suggested the Binoy tandem.

In his regular press conference yesterday, Rama said that Aquino may still run after his presidential term expires.

Rama said no one can question the economic gain Aquino has brought for the country under his administration while he considers Binay as a “master” in the field of politics.

The mayor said that after he won the second highest rank of the state, Binay has turned into a “political genius.”

Rama and his whole slate ran under Binay’s United Nationalist Alliance after the Liberal Party did not endorse him in the 2013 elections.

The mayor reiterated that he is still willing to support Aquino even after claiming that Cebu City has been “shortchanged” by the present administration.

The mayor, in past interviews, had said that the Office of the President failed to give what is due for the city.

He was referring to programs and projects, Cebu City has been asking from the National Government, like the plan to convert Malacañang sa Sugbo into a museum and use a portion of the facility as the City’s command center.

Malacañang, Rama said, did not give funds for the reconstruction of the Unit II of the Carbon Public Market, which destroyed by a fire in 1998.

The National Government did not include the P500-million in its annual budget for the construction of the new Cebu City Medical Center, which was heavily damaged when a 7.2-magnitude earthquake hit Cebu and Bohol last October.
