Storm to enter country today

THE state weather bureau forecasts cloudy skies and isolated rains and thunderstorms throughout the country today, as a tropical storm hovers outside the Philippine territory.

At 4 p.m. yesterday, tropical storm Rammasun was estimated at 1,150 Kms. east of Bicol Region and was moving west at 23 kms. per hour (kph), according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

It had a maximum sustained winds of 65 kph and gustiness of 80 kph.


The tropical storm is expected to enter the country’s eastern border this morning. It is expected to move closer toward Northern and Central Luzon tomorrow and Wednesday, bringing rains and occasional gusty winds in the area.

By Thursday morning, the tropical storm is forecast to be off the coast of Ilocos region, enhancing the southwest monsoon and bringing occasional rains over the Ilocos Region, Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Batangas, Mindoro, and Palawan until Friday.

Pagasa forecasts light to moderate winds will prevail all over the country. Coastal waters throughout the country will also be light to moderate. RSB
