THE Cebu City Anti-Indecency Board (Caib) confiscated magazines and DVDs it considers pornographic inside a mall and stalls along Colon St., respectively.
It seized 391 pornographic DVDs in three stalls inside the Vision Theater.
Caib head Lucelle Mercado said owners of the stalls ran away during their operation last week, prompting the board to asked the building owner to identify the tenants.
Mercado said selling of pornographic DVDs has been rampant in the Colon area that is why they intensified their operations there.
“We have to remind them that the City is monitoring them and just because we did not have operations for the past months doesn’t mean we already forget about them,” she told reporters.
In another operation, Caib also seized 237 men and women’s magazines it considers “pornographic” like FHM, Cosmopolitan, Maxim and Kamasutra.
The “lewd” magazines were sold inside a bookstore in a mall in Barangay Mabolo.
Mercado said the selling of these magazines is not allowed under its policy on anti-indecency.
She warned the establishment that the City might file administrative charges against the owner if it commits the same violation for the third time.
“This is the second time that they were caught selling these items,” Mercado said.
The establishment later paid the fine.
Caib first inspected the bookstore in 2012.
