Shut up, lawyer orders parents of ‘taped baby’-A A +A

THE couple who has complained against the Cebu Puericulture Center and Maternity House (CPCMH) over the alleged baby-taping incident is no longer allowed to issue statements regarding the case.
The “gag order” came from Heidi Orbiso, lawyer of Ryan Noval and Jasmine Janice Badocdoc.
Orbiso also told the couple to remove all their Facebook posts related to the issue.
“Yes, she had always wanted us not to be so exposed to the media when she took on our case. They’re (the posts) just hidden for now until we get through this current situation,” Noval said.
This, as Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama said he is not amenable to suggestions to close the CPCMH for the violations it allegedly committed.
Rama told reporters yesterday that CPCMH must still be given fair treatment.
Rama said that with the new Cebu City Medical Center still in the construction phase, private hospitals like CPCMH are needed to help provide medical services to the city’s constituents.
He added that those involved in the incident should be held responsible.
“The fault of one is not the fault of all,” Rama told reporters.
About two months ago, Noval and Badocdoc took to Facebook to reveal the incident involving their baby Yohannes; Noval posted photos of his son with a tape on his mouth while inside the CPCMH’s nursery.
Noval’s post became viral and triggered an online furor and investigation against the hospital.
Recently, news about Badocdoc supposedly settling the case prompted Noval to air his gripes online, posting status updates and actively engaging Facebook users who comment on the issue.
Noval and Badocdoc have denied agreeing to settle the case for P15,000.
CPCMH’s lawyer Cornelio Mercado, however, released to the media scanned copies of the check and voucher that Badocdoc supposedly signed; these, he said, are proof that a settlement has been reached.
