A PIZZA worker, an elderly widow and a farmer were killed in separate road accidents last Friday.

The first accident took place in Barangay Taboc, Danao City at 3:20 a.m. and claimed the life of John Mark Gonzales, 23.

According to police investigation, the victim was heading to Barangay Guinsay on his Honda Wave 125 motorcycle when he hit a stray dog.

PO1 Rommel Costan said this caused Gonzales to lose control of the motorcycle and crash into a jackfruit tree.

He was rushed to the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Danao City, but died due to severe head injuries. He was an employee of Nano’s Pizza.

Three hours later, Eleuteria Condor was killed after she was hit by a motorcycle in Barangay Canhabagat, Medellin.

Police said the 85-year-old widow was crossing the street when a motorcycle driven by Santiago Pino, 31, slammed into her.

Condor died on the spot. Medellin health officer Dr. Nicomedes Jabel Jr. said the victim died from severe head injuries.

Pino, a native of Barangay Malbago, Daanbantayan, was also brought to the hospital in Bogo City. He will face a complaint for reckless imprudence resulting to homicide.

Meanwhile, a farmer died after he was run over by a prime mover in Barangay Guiwang, Alcoy at 5:40 p.m.

Anecito Medellin, 61, was on his way home after attending a cockfight.

Police said a silver Foton prime mover (YKP-262) driven by Necky Bayo, 26, hit and ran over the victim, who was killed on the spot.

The truck came from Cebu City and was heading to a wharf in Bato, Oslob to catch a ferry to Negros Oriental.

Bayo, a native of Bais City, Negros Oriental, was detained at the police station and will face complaint over Medellin’s death. (DSM)
