A 28-YEAR-OLD motorcycle-for-hire driver was arrested after he allegedly killed his live-in-partner and his older brother in Barangay Pagsabungan, Mandaue City yesterday morning.

Police investigators said the suspect, identified as Flint Toling, shot and stabbed Ashela Antipuesto, 31, a call center agent, inside their rented room past 7 a.m.

After killing his live-in-partner, he went to the house of his brother, Jason, 35, located a few meters from the couple’s house, and shot him.

Senior Insp. Genilo Veraque, chief of the Basak Police Station, said jealousy drove Toling to commit the crime.

“He suspected that his live-in-partner and his brother was having an affair,” said

Jason was separated from her wife with whom he had three children.

Investigators said Toling started having suspicions two weeks earlier, after reading text exchanges between Antipuesto and his brother. At one point, the two allegedly exchanged texts about her getting an abortion.

Toling, who did not have a child with his live-in-partner, also noticed his brother’s frequent visits to their room.

Veraque said Toling quarreled with Antipuesto before shooting her in the chest. When the suspect noticed she was still alive, he got a knife and stabbed her.

Antipuesto sustained a gunshot wound and a stab wound in her chest. She died on the spot. Jason, who suffered a gunshot wound in his chest, died on the way to the Mandaue City District Hospital.

Police recovered the .38 revolver Toling allegedly used as well as three empty shells.

The suspect, who sustained injuries after he was mauled by neighbors after the shooting, will be subjected to a drug test. He allegedly appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

Toling is now detained at the Basak Police Station.

Police are preparing double murder charges against him.
