ONE was killed while three were injured in shooting incidents in Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City during the weekend.
At 2:30 p.m. yesterday, a suspected thief was shot dead by his companions while walking on a narrow path in Sitio Mananga 2 in Barangay Tabunok.
Archie Villaflor, 26, from Barangay Lagtang, was walking with two unidentified companions in the area. When they reached a water firm’s pumping station, four shots were heard by residents there.
Residents found Villaflor on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds on his back. Villaflor died instantly.
But Villaflor’s companions were nowhere to be found.
SPO1 Yvonne Illustrisimo of the Talisay City Police said that hours before he was killed, Villaflor was walking with two unidentified companions and were using the Mananga 2 route to get to Barangay Lagtang.
Witnesses said they saw Villaflor and his two companions talking and laughing before the shooting occurred.
Illustrisimo suspected that the suspects may have a grudge on Villaflor.
A background check by police showed that Villaflor has been jailed many times due petty theft and robbery.
Meanwhile, a day earlier, two minors and a 41-year-old woman suffered injuries after a stray bullet entered their houses in the same sitio.
Jocelyn Mandawe, 41, and neighbors Larry, 11, and Gina, 3 (their names are withheld due to being a minor) were watching TV at around 10 p.m. last Saturday when the incident occurred.
A certain Tirso Ikoy, 31, was reportedly playing with his .45 caliber pistol when the gun suddenly went off.
The stray bullet hit Mandawe on her neck, while it struck Larry on his left hand and the right finger on Gina.
PO1 Janel Figura said the three victims were brought to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) and are out of danger.
The police are still searching for Ikoy who immediately fled after the incident.
