Getting cleared by Napoles lawyer relieves Samsam-A A +A
Friday, May 30, 2014
REP. Gerard Anthony “Samsam” Gullas (Cebu, 1st district) is relieved by the admission of Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) scam “mastermind” Janet Lim-Napoles’s lawyer that his client made the mistake of including him in the list of lawmakers involved in the anomaly.
The initial list that Napoles had submitted to Justice Secretary Leila de Lima included the name “Samsam.”
Gullas noted this is not the first time that the Napoles list was tainted with mistakes because she (Napoles) also included the name of Sen. Jose Victor “JV” Ejercito and later apologized for that mistake.
He also said that De Lima had requested the Senate to keep the documents confidential pending investigation and verification but it was Sen. Teofisto “TG” Guingona II, Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chairman, who released it to the media in the spirit of transparency.
Gullas said that as a first-time congressman who assumed office only last July 1, 2013, when there was no more PDAF, he had no dealings with Napoles or any of her alleged agents.
Gullas also assured his constituents in the first district of Cebu that his being dragged into the controversy is just an unfortunate incident and “will not affect (my) desire and resolution to serve (you) to the best of (my) abilities.”
