THE regional office of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has confirmed that a drug popularly known as “Fly High” has already reached Cebu City.

This was verified by PDEA 7 after a test-buy last March in one of the bars in Cebu City.

PDEA 7 Director Espirideon Javier, in a phone interview, however, declined to provide further information, particularly as to the specific place in the city the drug was bought.

He said PDEA 7 is still tracing the supplier and the manufacturer of the illegal drug.

He hopes to be able to arrest those behind the distribution of the drug within the year.

Javier said the Fly High was sold at a price of P3,000 each capsule. PDEA 7 bought one capsule. The brown-colored capsule was placed in a small plastic.

It was submitted for testing in a laboratory.

According to the test result, the capsule reportedly contained methamphetamine, a component found in shabu; and cialis, a drug used to treat erectile dysfunction, such as Viagra.

“Parang wala talagang (I think there is no) laboratory for this illegal drug (Fly High) because the supplier or manufacturer are the ones who mixed the components then put it in a capsule,” said Javier.

He said PDEA 7 is gathering more information as to where the drug came from.

The drug is reportedly difficult to purchase since it is mostly circulated only to those people who are friends with the suppliers.

The Fly High or also known as “Superman” or “Party” has strong effects on the user, which would last for three to four days. The user reportedly cannot sleep and would lose appetite. They would also become sexually active.

The drug can reportedly cause ulcer for not eating, mental breakdown and heart attack.

Meanwhile, Supt. Romeo Santander, City Intelligence Branch (CIB) chief, said his office also received several reports about the circulation of Fly High, but added that it is still being verified.
