A PUBLIC utility driver was beheaded by his neighbor during a drinking session in Sitio Kalubihan, Barangay Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu City last Monday night.
Senior Insp. Zenaido Pastorfide Jr., head of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office’s Homicide Section, identified the victim as Florencio Lobo, 54.
Initial investigation revealed the victim was drinking tuba, or coconut wine, with Russel Colacado, 40, and Alfredo Nadela, 34.
“Naghinambogay kuno ni sila kung kinsay pinakadaghan nila og napatay nga bitin (They were bragging about who had killed the most snakes),” Pastorfide told Sun.Star Cebu.
Their conversation, however, led to an altercation that prompted Colacado to strike Lobo with a bolo.
The victim’s wife ran to help him, but Nadela blocked her. Colacado and Nadela are reportedly siblings.
Colacado allegedly used the bolo to behead Lobo. The pair then left the crime scene.
No history of bad blood
Pastorfide, in a phone interview, said the suspects remain at large.
Police went to their houses, but they’ve already gone.
“Wala raman kuno ni sila nag-away sa una. Tungod lang gyud siguro sa kahubog (There was no history of bad blood. They were probably just too drunk),” Pastorfide said.
In another incident, Ritchel Madera, a 33-year-old employee of a logistics company, was gunned down on his way to work in Barangay Bankal, Lapu-Lapu City around 7 a.m. yesterday.
Madera was waiting for a ride when the gunman approached him from the back and shot him several times.
Madera died on the spot, while the gunman fled.
Police recovered five empty shells from a.45 pistol in the crime scene.
Pastorfide, in an interview, said they are still trying to determine the motive of the shooting.
“Wala raman kuno ni siya’y kontra matod sa iyang pamilya (His family said he didn’t have any enemies),” he said.
