THE man whose body was found stuffed in a suitcase in Babag 2, Cebu City last Monday has been identified.

Macaria Aninipok recognized her 31-year-old son Albert through the birthmark on his right foot and his hairstyle.

Macaria went to the Cebu City Police Office on Tuesday night.

She admitted that Albert was a thief and was engaged in illegal drugs.

As far as she knows, she said he had stolen 37 motorcycles.

Possible motive

Macaria said they suspected it was her son whose body was found after watching the news on TV.

“Nagduda na gyud mi ato labi na usa na ka buwan nga wala mauli among anak sa amoa (He hadn’t been home in a month),” she said.

The Aninipoks reside in Sitio Upper Panabang, Barangay Apas, Cebu City.

Albert’s body was found last Monday afternoon, although it was only reported to the police the next day.

He was wrapped in a blanket and placed inside sack and stuffed inside a suitcase. The suitcase was dumped in a grassy area in Sitio Maomawan.

The body had two stab wounds in the neck and stomach that may have caused his death.

Five small packs of white crystalline substance believed to be shabu were also found inside his pocket.

PO1 Merlo Laborte of the Homicide Section said since the victim has been identified, they will investigate those responsible for Albert’s death.

He said the motive may be drug-related, based on the testimony of Albert’s mother.

He said more than one person were involved in his death.
