Capitol official resigns-A A +A
Wednesday, March 26, 2014
NEIL Angelo Sanchez has resigned from his post as Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (PDRRM) officer a little over a month before his contract officially ends in May.
Gov. Hilario Davide III said Sanchez, who is on leave, already tendered his resignation letter.
Sanchez’s resignation will take effect on April 1. Davide said he will temporarily take charge of the PDRRM office by then.
Davide also said that Sanchez did well during the calamities that hit the province while the latter was still PDRRMC chief.
In his letter, Sanchez said he wants to explore his options, like working in the private sector.
“I am not closing my door on (the option to work again for the government) but I am not offering (myself),” Sanchez said.
He said there are nongovernment groups that encouraged him to apply for positions in their organizations that fit his background.
Before he gave his resignation letter, Sanchez said he called up Davide and informed him about his decision. He also apologized to the governor for any shortcoming he may have committed in the performance of his job.
Sanchez thanked his staff for their support especially when calamities hit the province. He also told them to support Capitol consultant Baltazar Tribunalo, the next PDRRM officer.
Davide earlier announced that Tribunalo will take Sanchez’s place starting May.
Davide decided to appoint Tribunalo, head of Task Force Paglig-on, to head the PDRRM so that rehabilitation efforts after typhoon Yolanda and disaster preparedness will be manned by one person.
Davide said he also saw that Tribunalo’s forte is in disaster preparedness.
