THE man allegedly responsible for robbing an LBC outlet in Taboan, Barangay San Nicolas, Cebu City last week was arrested last Monday night.

Suspect Jerome Gonzaga, 25, was identified by the LBC cashier through the rogues’ gallery.

Gonzaga was also captured on the closed-circuit TV camera pointing a gun at a customer.

His companion, a certain Bernabe Diamosboro, is still at large.

Gonzaga was arrested in Alaska, Mambaling around 6 p.m.

A .45 pistol with magazine and five live ammunition and a fragmentation grenade were recovered from the suspect’s possession.

The .38 revolver allegedly used in the robbery was also seized from him.

San Nicolas Police Chief Chuck Barandog said they never stopped looking for the suspects after the robbery, which took place last March 10.

Barandog said they coordinated with San Nicolas Barangay Captain Ambraham Desamparado to identify one of the suspects.

Informant’s tip

He said Gonzales was involved in various holdups and was jailed before for a case of illegal drugs.

After an informant tipped them that Gonzales was in Barangay Mambaling, operatives immediately went to the area and arrested him.

Police conducted a follow-up operation yesterday dawn in search for Diamosboro in Barangay Duljo-Fatima.

Operatives failed to find Diamosboro in his house, but assorted firearms were recovered, including a KG 9 pistol with 24 9mm ammunitions and two .45 pistol with at least 20 ammunitions.

Two other arrests

During the LBC robbery, Gonzales and Diamosboro reportedly took almost P40,000.

Gonzaga is detained in the Cebu City Police Office stockade while charges are being prepared against him.

In another development, Lester Ablay, 21, and Fermin Cui were arrested for illegal possession of firearms in Barangay Lorega, Cebu City.

A .45 pistol with five live ammunitions was confiscated from Ablay, while a Colt .45 pistol and a pot of marijuana were seized from Cui.
