EIGHT people, including a 15-year-old boy, were arrested by police in separate anti-drug operations in the province last Thursday.

In Tuburan town, police caught five people allegedly engaged in selling drugs inside a beach resort in Barangay Daanlungsod.

Senior Insp. William Homoc, the town police chief, identified them as Ken Haryll Ruelan, 31; his live-in partner Christine Pantollano, 30; Cloyd Figeroa, 33; Gary Pantollano, 18; and a 15-year-old boy.

The buy-bust was conducted around 11:30 p.m.

A police decoy bought P400 worth of shabu from Ruelan and Figeroa, who were the subjects of the operation.

Homoc said they barged into the suspects’ room after the transaction. Because the room was half-opened, he said they saw the Pantollano siblings and the minor packing drugs.

Placed under surveillance

Eleven small packs and one medium pack of alleged shabu believed to be worth P25,000 were recovered from them.

Drug-sniffing paraphernalia and a weighing scale were also inside the room.

Homoc, when interviewed by Sun.Star Cebu, said they have been monitoring Ruelan, who has been on their watch list of suspected drug personalities for a long time. Figeroa allegedly served as the suspect’s drug runner.

Homoc said Ruelan, who falls under level-three category in drug selling, sells drugs in beach resorts to avoid police detection.

Homoc said Ruelan has a pending warrant of arrest for theft.

The minor, on the other hand, was turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Today, police will charge the suspects with violating Republic Act (RA) 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

“Depende na lang sa korte kung nakita nila nga with discernment ang pagbuhat sa bata (We will let the court decide whether to drop the case against the minor),” Homoc said.

Eluded arrest

In a separate operation, police arrested a couple in Barangay Jampang, Argao.

Seized from Marmebee delos Reyes, 32, and his live-in partner Debralyn Archita, 30, were eight small and medium packs of shabu worth P20,000.

A drug user identified as Richie Tanquis eluded arrest during the buy-bust, which took place before 4 p.m.

Insp. Alejandro Batobalonos, head of the Argao Police Station, said the couple was arrested after a police decoy bought P600 worth of shabu from them.

Batobalonos said delos Reyes is classified as a level two drug pusher who could dispose of many packs of shabu per week.

“Gikan kuno ni iyang supply sa (His drug supply comes from) Duljo Fatima, Cebu City,” he said.

Police on patrol in Barangay Poblacion, Danao City also arrested a man in a pot session.

The police team led by PO3 Phil Restauro saw a group of people acting suspiciously inside a hut on Olivar St. around 10 p.m.

When they entered the hut, they found Rodel Beduya, 20, and confiscated a small pack of shabu from him.
