TWO wanted persons in Tabuelan, Cebu who are accused of raping a minor were arrested by police in separate operations.

Operatives of Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Branch (PIDMB) caught Deo Arellano, 28, in Sitio Zone Kasag, Barangay Calawisan, Lapu-Lapu City Thursday night.

The operation was conducted at 11:40 a.m. The policemen were armed with a warrant of arrest issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) 7 Branch 59 Judge Gabriel Ingles on May 11, 2008.

The warrant was for rape in relation to Republic Act (RA) 7610, or the Special Protection of Children against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

The operatives led by Senior Insp. Wilson Abot went to Sitio Riverside, Barangay Nangka, Consolacion at 2:45 a.m. yesterday.

They arrested Khudairi Ayub, 24, who went into hiding like Arellano after they were accused of rape.

Ayub is second in the top ten most wanted persons list in Tabuelan while Arellano is third.

Abot told Sun.Star Cebu the suspects are accused of raping a 16-year-old girl in 2006 in different occasions.

Police are looking for a third suspect in the crime.

Ayub and Arellano denied taking advantage of the girl.

“Date-date ra man ‘to namo (It was a date),” they said.

Arellano said the same thing.

“Wala gyud ‘to nako siya gi-rape. Kahibaw man siya sa among buhaton (It was not rape. She knew what were about to do),” Arellano said.
