THE Cebu City Traffic Operations Management (Citom) yesterday warned the public that traffic in the southern part of the city would be heavy this weekend.
This, as the Mambaling access road will be closed for three activities: an offroad competition at the South Road Properties (SRP) today, and the Sinulog sa Basak Pardo and Sinulog sa Mambaling tomorrow.
Citom operations officer Joy Tumulak told Sun.Star Cebu that the access road will be closed starting at noon today until the offroad competition is finished.
Those who want to watch the activity, which will be held near the SRP tower, will not be allowed to park their vehicles on the Cebu South Coastal Road (CSCR) or at the access road.
“They can park their vehicles near the templete for the St. Pedro Calungsod thanksgiving mass,” he said.
The Mambaling access road will be also be closed tomorrow starting at 11 a.m. for the Sinulog sa Basak Pardo.
The Citom traffic advisory released yesterday also said that Macopa St. and N. Bacalso Ave., from Sabellano St. to Bayanihan Village, will be closed as well.
Citom said two-way traffic will be allowed on the left lane of N. Bacalso Ave., from Cabreros St. to Bayanihan Village.
The Sinulog sa Mambaling, Citom said, will also limit vehicle access to the Cebu South Coastal Road.
Tumulak, in an interview, said traffic in the southern portion of Cebu City will not be as heavy as Sunday because only the Mambaling access road will be closed.
He urged the public to be patient.
He said Citom will deploy 20 traffic personnel to facilitate traffic in affected areas this weekend.
