435 families in Talisay City to get fund to fix, reconstruct homes-A A +A
Wednesday, January 15, 2014
FAMILIES in Talisay City whose homes were damaged or destroyed after the Oct. 15 earthquake and super typhoon Yolanda will get a total of P4.35 million as housing assistance from the National Housing Authority (NHA).
This was announced by Rep. Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas Jr. in a press conference yesterday.
Gullas said 435 families will get about P10,000 in cash to help them rebuild or repair their houses.
He said he obtained a list of affected families from Talisay City Public Information Officer Vince Monterde, who is also local disaster officer.
With the list, Gullas said, he made a request for assistance through NHA General Manager Chito Cruz.
He said Cruz approved the request last Monday.
Gullas said the financial assistance will go through the Talisay City Government Treasurer’s Office before it can be approved for release.
He said beneficiaries can expect the checks in mid-February.
The legislator said he is glad that the NHA approved his request, although Talisay City is not on the priority list for assistance.
Gullas said he informed Talisay City Mayor Johnny de los Reyes about the assistance during an activity in Barangay Lagtang last week. He added that he hopes he and de los Reyes would be able to work together for the city.
