THE Sinulog Foundation Inc. (SFI) will have to liquidate the previous financial assistance given by the Cebu Provincial Capitol before they can receive this year’s P1 million.

Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III said they will give the P1-million assistance as long as SFI will provide the Capitol with the liquidation of the previous years.

In a previous interview, the Capitol headed by Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale, who was acting governor then, extended P300,000 last year.

In 2012, former Cebu governor and now representative Gwendolyn Garcia approved and released P3 million financial assistance to SFI.

“That pledge remains good. Until maka-liquidate ang Sinulog Foundation, that’s the time ma-release tingali. Mao man na’y patakaran dinhi gud makuan unya ta’s COA ana ba (that we can release it. That’s our law here because we might be questioned by the Commission on Audit),” Davide said.

He said he already told SFI executive director Ricky Ballesteros about this.

Ballesteros was also the one who informed that SFI has still unliquidated financial assistance from the Capitol, said Davide.

The Capitol plans to have a float that will represent the Province of Cebu.

The governor said they still have to check the cost.

Davide will attend the Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan this Saturday.

There will be nine contingents from the towns.

For the secondary level, the following contingents will join: Uling National High School of Naga City, Tribu Sabangonon of Danao City, Tuburan National High School of Tuburan and La Paz National High School of Bogo City.

For the elementary level, the participants are Talisay City Central School, Taytay Elementary School of Danao City, Ginatilan Elementary School, Mandaue City Central School and Langtad Elementary School of Naga City.

When asked if the governor will be in the grand stand at the Cebu City Sports Complex on Jan. 19, Davide said, normally, he would rather be on the streets walking while watching the street dances or just watch the whole Sinulog activities on television.
