Motorists urged to heed rerouting over weekend-A A +A

THE Cebu City Traffic Operations Management (Citom) yesterday advised motorists that vehicular traffic will be rerouted for three days, starting Friday.
This is to give way for the launching parade of this year’s Sinulog celebration on Jan. 10, the Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan on Jan. 11 and the Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Dakbayan on Jan. 12.
For the launching parade, Citom, in a press release, said vehicles will be rerouted starting 2 p.m. until the activity is finished.
The rerouting will be implemented on streets affected by the parade, particularly from the main entrance of the Basilica del Sto. Niño, along Osmeña Blvd., to Fuente Osmeña Rotunda and to the gate of the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).
In a traffic advisory sent by Citom yesterday, the rerouting will affect public utility jeepneys coming from Capitol and Lahug, as well as those coming from Banawa, Guadalupe, Gen. Maxilom Ave., Ayala, Talamban, Basak Pardo and Labangon.
Also affected are jeepneys coming from Inayawan, Urgello, Mabolo and Mandaue City jeepneys passing V. Gullas St.
For the Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan, Citom said traffic will be rerouted at noon until the activity is finished.
It will affect the streets from Capitol Site to the CCSC, passing Osmeña Blvd.For 03B jeepneys, Citom said these should turn left on F. Ramos St., make a right on Junquera St., right on Sanciangko St., left on Osmeña Blvd., then back to their usual route and then to their point of origin.
For 04B, 04D, 04E, 04H, 14D, 17B, and 17D jeepneys, these should use Gorordo Ave., make a right on Gen. Maxilom Ave., left on F. Ramos St., right on Junquera St., right on Sanciangko St., then to their destination in the downtown area.
Jeepneys with route numbers 14B and 15 are advised to turn left on Gov. Roa St., left on Ma. Cristina St., right on Juana Osmeña St., right on Gen. Maxilom Ave., left on F. Ramos St., right on Junquera St., right on Sanciangko St., then to their usual route and to their point of origin.
Other jeepneys that will be rerouted are those with route numbers 06B, 06C, 06D, 06E, 07B, 07C, 07D, 07E, 07H, 12L and 06H.
As for the Sinulog sa Kabtaan sa Dakbayan, Citom said traffic will be rerouted at noon until the activity is finished.
It will affect Legaspi St., Plaza Independencia, D. Jakosalem St., Osmeña Blvd. and P. del Rosario St.
The rerouting will affect jeepneys coming from Guadalupe, Banawa, Capitol, Oppra, Lahug, Ayala, Talmban, Basak Pardo, Labangon, Inayawan, Urgello, Mabolo and Mandaue City passing V. Gullas St.
“Motorist, drivers and other road users are advised to follow traffic signs installed on the re-routing areas to minimize traffic congestion,” Citom said.
