THE Korean suspect in the killing of Whenvy Jean Noel, 21, died last Friday at 1:10 p.m. after two months in a coma.

Hyun Chul Hwang, 29, is the primary suspect in Noel’s death in a hotel in Lapu-Lapu City last February.

Hyun stayed for two months in an intensive care unit at the Cebu Doctors’ Hospital, where he was taken after he was found unconscious in a hotel room with Noel last Feb. 9.

“We already informed Noel’s family, the Korean Consulate as well as the court,” said PO1 Jomar Florentino of Homicide Section in the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.

A murder case was filed against Hyun on March 2. The case is pending in court.

At 10 p.m. last Feb. 8, the two checked in at the San Francisco Hotel in Lapu-Lapu City.

The next day, hotel supervisor Edgar Tantay went to their room twice, at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., to inform them it was their time to check out.

He got no response.

The hotel manager, Elizabeth Palis, called the police at 9 p.m.

Police forcibly opened the door and found the two in bed naked.

The Korean’s mouth was frothing while Noel had bruises in the different parts of the body.

She was believed to have been strangled, an autopsy report said. (John Paul V. Pepito/CNU Comm Intern)
