GRAND POSITIONING. Grand Convention Center president Winglip Chang expressed confidence that the improvements done to Grand Convention Center (including its menu) will reinforce the venue’s rank in the community.

As part of the series of prequel activities to its comeback, Grand Convention Center Cebu hosted last Wednesday #Throwback, a one-day lunch promo for only P195 at the Grand Majestic.

The initiative basically reset the price back to the good old days; to relive the Grand Majestic experience. Prior to its current location in Archbishop Reyes Ave. in Cebu City, people used to flock the first Grand Majestic in Gorordo Ave. That was in 1990. Later after that year, sometime in 1995, the buffet feature was introduced with the stellar item, Peking Duck.

From appetizers, salads and entrees down to pastas and desserts, a breadth of international cuisines (Chinese, Japanese, Malaysian, Western and Filipino) graced the buffet last Aug. 27. There was the all-time favorite Peking duck, beef hofan and Stroganoff, friend taro shrimp, pomodoro pasta, salmon paksiw, kimchi, assorted mousse, crème brulee and more. At the head of Grand Majestic’s kitchen is executive chef Wing Tong Tsang.

“When we do our dishes, each can stand on its own,” Grand Convention Center president Winglip Chang said of the menu, which according to him is strong in Peking duck, salmon sashimi and noodle dishes. Chang also mentioned that monthly changes are expected from their offerings to revamp the Grand Majestic taste and continue to excite the palate of the market.

Grand Convention Center moved to its present address in 1996. Renovation efforts started April of last year until it reopened its doors on December. Significant upgrades include a ballroom equipped with state of the art sounds and lights systems, the Chinese restaurant Tsay Cheng Chinese Cuisine (opened last February), Isla Sugbu Seafood City (opened last June) and the Grand Majestic.

“With solid social presence, our reputation stands in the forefront of government and private entities. This set of improvements, which includes the menu, is an expression of giving back to the public. Furthermore, we’d like to be a trademark of a preeminent venue especially for events with quick impact to the society,” Chang underlined.

Grand Convention Center Cebu will have its grand relaunching late this month.
