‘Culture of tourism’ and success stories

The “Culture of Tourism Advocacy Program” (CTAP), a team initiative of the Academe, Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) tourism committee, Cebu’s tourism based stakeholders, Department of Tourism (DOT), and the local communities of the Province and City of Cebu, reeled off with some 1,000 students, faculty and stakeholders at the sponsor’s venue, the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Colleges of Arts and Sciences and Commerce. It featured the fifth of the People Success stories.

A long term program, CTAP advocates the inculcation of the best Filipino values and historical legacy as framework to attain best tourism practices and services as well as other endeavors. Through the leadership of CCCI president Tess Chan, VP-Eard Mario Panganiban, the CCCI tourism committee headed by this writer, and Edwin Ortiz, member of DOT promotion board, a planning workshop will be held to develop the scheme and strategies of CTAP . The output will be presented to the City and Province of Cebu and other appropriate tourism-based agencies.
