THE GANG. Souvenir photo of high school class 1959, emerald jubilarians.

When Theresian Aida Cavan-Ugalde of St. Theresa’s College (STC) high school class 1959 mobilizes her classmates to move, they walk, not an inch, but run the distance, to celebrate their emerald jubilee (55) years since graduation.

Meetings, meetings, and more meetings until committees were formed to continue the follow-ups in her absence. Yes, even if she had to leave for her USA respite, Aida never stopped calling on classmates abroad.

Homecoming Day arrived, and a record 22, from the US and other capitals, appeared at the STC campus for their photo session, garbed in dramatic black, accented with a fashionable green stole, thanks to Victoria Deen-Sison. She also scripted the super-entertaining “Talk Show” that the class presented in the program later in the evening.

So gung-ho were the girls that the reunion didn’t end there but stretched beyond. There were beach outings in Mactan, a healthy lunch hosted by Rosie Veloso-Binghay at her well appointed mountain lodge in the picturesque hills of Balamban, (it gets misty here!), and a Chinese lunch thru the courtesy of Annabelle C. Luym at the Grand Convention Center.

Not to be outdone, Bangkok-based Elma Garcia-Muangkroot, ended the day with a merienda-cena at her sis Nelia’s postcard-pretty seaside hideaway at Amara in Liloan, where the breeze could lull you to dreamland!

Coffee-time found the group at UCC Coffee Shop at Ayala Terraces, where Marilu Chiongbian played host. By this time, some had already left for home. But no matter, memories will keep us alive.

Before we end, Aida did break bread with classmates abroad, to the point of even attending the golden wedding party of Lydia Pacaide-Juezan, and hubby Pete, in Las Vegas, Nevada, where even more classmates congregated.

Jetsetting from Cebu was Aida, but guess who also showed up at the affair? Bangkok-based Elma surprise indeed!

Let these photos tell the story of such a memorable jubilee!
