Chic the rain

WHAT goes up when the skies go down? An umbrella on a rainy day. One way to keep dry and fashionable is to buy good rainwear. Here are some tips from wikihow, GQ and GMA 7.

Wear a fitted trench coat with a hood. The trench coat is a classic piece that works well for nearly any woman’s wardrobe. Consider a standard beige trench, a sophisticated burgundy trench, or a vibrant red trench, depending on your personality.

Find out what the coat is made of and whether it’s water-resistant, such as waxed cotton (good), or waterproof, such as Gore-Tex (better).

Wear thin clothes beneath your coat. Materials like thin cotton weaves work best under a well-fitted coat since they do not add extra bulk.

Add color. When the weather is gray and cloudy, your spirits naturally sink. Adding bright, cheerful colors to your wardrobe is a good way to keep your spirits high.

Boots are great. Get a good pair of rain boots. Brightly colored rubber boots can give off a childish vibe, especially if they are speckled in daisies, polka dots, or other loud prints. You can also choose bold, solid colors over patterns. Alternatively, a rubber riding boot or a leather boot with a waterproof coating can give your look a sophisticated edge.

Off with suede. Avoid suede and other materials that can suffer water damage. Do not carry any bags in this material or wear any shoes made with this material. Unprotected leather can also get ruined in the rain.

Umbrella as an accessory. Look for a bright color or pattern to liven up the dreariness outdoors, or opt for a chocolate brown or red umbrella with a wooden handle for a mature, chic look. Have fun with it, and choose an umbrella that suits your personality.

Comfortable clothes. Getting splashed with rainwater from speeding vehicles gives you an icky feeling. Wearing shorts on a rainy will address the problem. Just pick out a trendy pair so you don’t look shabby. Top with a fashionable blouse or shirt. You can also go for the tailored look, with shorts and blazer.
