HERE come the savory and delectable cuisine choices from the Iberian Peninsula—Spain: jamon serrano, sopa Cachorrena, fabada (beans and chorizo casserole), sorbet naranja and fennel with saffron threads, spiced duck with pears picada, lengua estofado con setas, seafood paella, postre (dessert) of fried milk blueberry sauce, brazo de Mercedes.

Sabores de España, the culinary journey, opened at the lobby lounge of Marco Polo Plaza Hotel, with the traditional slicing of Spain’s signature high-end product jamon serrano by distinguished guest Ignacio Perez Cambra from the Embajada de España; Honorary Consul of Spain in Cebu Anton Perdices, hotel general manager Hans Hauri and Spanish culinary consultant, Cebuana Gema Luisa Pido.

Jazzing up the launching night was a stunning “Paso Doble” performance by a duo from Dance Sport-Cebu Ole!

After all that gorging, why not try an alternative but healthy dining experience for a change?

An attractive and aggressive trio landed on our shores to establish a center here, the Cohen Lifestyle Center in Mandaue City. Meet executives Barbara Young, chief executive officer (CEO); Dr. Angela Bandola, executive director; and Regina Chuvaon, chief finance officer (CFO), who have all successfully undergone the Cohen program.

A select crowd of health and wellness fans gathered at Tavolata, a restaurant at Design Center-Cebu, where the Abaca Group’s executive chef Wade Watson, whipped up a special Cohen-friendly menu of seared US rib eye, poached prawns and mushroom frittata.

“It is of common knowledge that Pinoys love to eat. Name it: lechon. pochero, bulalo, etc., and it has also become increasingly difficult to make the young people of today, engage in some form of physical activity more so, with the advent of hi-tech gadgets like computers, smart phones etc. Why they end up getting stuck to these gadgets the whole day.

Then obesity sets in, and with it, hypertension, diabetes, cancer. Dreaded diseases that were once limited to old age but not any longer.

Now comes the Cohen Lifestyle Program. Dr. Rami Cohen, author of this program, believes that food, which is the source of all obesity, can also be the solution to your health woes. It is an innovative diet that focuses on food, but a personalized plan, just for you. It studies your blood chemistry first, and formulates an eating plan, which you can both enjoy, and still remain healthy.

This plan activates the body’s natural ability to shed off fats safely.and more importantly, rapidly. Clients, often called Cohenites, have attested to losing an average of 8-10 lbs., a month!

The second phase of the plan is to stabilize an individual’s not just to reach his/her desired weight goal, but to ultimately maintain it. The Cohen Lifestyle Center in Cebu is located at Suite 105, Oakridge Business Park, A.S. Fortuna St, Mandaue City.
