AT 18 years, Plantation Bay is in full bloom just like a debutante in all her grown-up glory. The beautiful kingdom-by-the-sea revels in its scenic spots, romantic nooks, lush vegetation, world-class facilities and excellent service. Yes, it is a different world out there—enchantment is in the air!

Turning all of 18 years was indeed a turning point in the resort's existence. A celebration was definitely in order. Invites were sent out for a cocktail gathering at the Orion Beach. It was a lovely evening with an excellent cocktail spread, wines-a-flowing and eye-popping entertainment numbers from the resort staff who are terrific dancers. Kudos to the Plantation Bay team led by general manager (GM) Nenette Castillon.

To celebrate the National Day of Belgium, the Ambassador of Belgium and Mrs. Roland Van Remoortele and the Honorary Consul of Belgium and Mrs. Enrique Benedicto tendered a cocktail reception at the Manila Room of Marco Polo Plaza. During his brief talk Ambassador Remoortele underscored the close relationship between the Philippines and Belgium. In fact, Belgium was the first country to send help to the typhoon victims of Yolanda.

The formal affair saw guests from the government sector led by Acting Cebu City Mayor Edgar Labella; the diplomatic corps with Ambassador Frank Benedicto very much around; members of the Belgian community in Cebu; and a cross section of local society.

It was a grand opening affair for Suzuki North Auto Cebu at its brand new premises along A.S. Fortuna St. in Mandaue. The place is a one-stop convenience shop for all Suzuki sales, spare parts and services, featuring a bigger showroom/display area and a service facility with complete equipment.

Frontliners at the party were Suzuki Philippines Inc. (SP) president Hiroshi Suzuki; SP GM for Automobile division Shuzo Hoshikura; and the men behind the Cebu dealership—the father and son tandem of Antonio Jan Sing Chua and Brian Chua.

In celebration of the Swiss National Day, Marco Polo has an ongoing Swiss food festival for lunch and dinner at Cafe Marco. Go and get a taste of authentic Swiss culinary specialties. Food fest is until Aug. 10.
