CCCI’s bloodletting collects 400 bags

MORE than 400 bags of blood were collected during the third grand bloodletting activity held simultaneously at the Cebu City Sports Center and University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue (UCLM) campus. Last year’s event gathered more than 300 bags of blood.

Organized by the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s health committee, over 500 volunteer blood donors turned up for the event, majority of them are from UCLM’s ROTC cadets; personnel from the Cebu City Police Office, Police Regional Office 7, Armed Forces of the Philippines’ Central Command, Second Air Division Philippine Air Force and Naval Forces Central.

The Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ayala Business Club of Cebu Inc., International Pharmaceuticals Inc., and People Management Association of the Philippines Cebu also showed their support through their employees who volunteered to donate blood.


Students from Salazar Colleges of Sciences and Institute of Technology and the University of San Carlos also participated in the advocacy project.

The participation of the Association of Barangay Councils, Cebu City Sports Center, Rotary International District 3860 Zone 1 composed of the Rotary Clubs of Cebu, Cebu Fuente, Cebu Gloria Maris, Cebu Bogo, Cebu East, Cebu West, Cebu North, Cebu Port Center, El Pardo de Cebu, Talisay, Mandaue, Mandaue East and the Rotaract Club of Cebu Fuente Community Based, contributed to the event’s success.

The event was also supported by Alcordo Advertising, Anita’s Bakeshop, Casino Ethyl Alcohol, Cebu Oversea Hardware, Dunkin Donuts, Gardenia, GT Cosmetics, Jollibee, Julies Bakeshop, Krispy Kreme, Lourdes Catering, Nature’s Spring, National Grid Corp. of the Philippines, Omega Pro, Pepsi, RC Goldline, Smart Communications, The Uniform Center, Tune Hotels and Virginia Food Inc.

This year’s event was organized through the collaborative effort of CCCI, the Department of Health Regional Blood Center 7, Philippine Red Cross Cebu chapter and convening partners.

The event with the theme, “Give blood for those who give life,” was conducted in accordance with the National Blood Donor’s Month celebration.
