-A A +A

WE have known Sun.Star Cebu columnist and author Erma Cuizon for the longest time, and have admired her literary style, and secretly wished that her talent would somehow rub off on me. Anyway, we were once again witness to another launching of not one but two books at the Cathedral Museum of Cebu, one summer evening.

The affair was a joint endeavor of the University of San Carlos Press, Sun.Star and Women in Literary Arts (Wila) of which Erma is founding president.

Both masterpieces, Twilight in Misamis, which relates the risks encountered by a Cebuana guerilla leader during the war years, and Woman, a prized collection of essays based on her Sun.Star columns, came alive that evening as various creative readers gave justice to the written word.

We are featuring some of them here, but would also like to acknowledge the following: Sun.Star opinion editor, Bong Wenceslao, for his introduction of Woman; introduction of Twilight in Misamis, read by RTC Judge Simeon Dumdum, honorary member of Wila and Reycel Punay for her intermission numbers.

All told, it was a most invigorating evening. Erma, when do we see print of book No. 6 or is it No. 7?

June is known as the “Marry Month.” High time for future brides and grooms to prepare for that big day! What better way than to attend a bridal fair at Cebu City Marriott Hotel?

“I Do – Marry Me at the Marriott,” was the grandest happening ever with, 40 wedding suppliers, from planners to jewelers, to food menus, to florists etc. Fifteen of Cebu’s top designers flaunted their elegant, intricate, and very wearable wedding gowns that would delight all types of brides: from the demure to the daring! Imagine a dramatic opening number by Philip Rodriguez and a rousing finale by Jun Escario!

With all these dream attractions, Marriott had still another scoop. A free wedding workshop for planners conducted by the country’s most sought-after wedding planner Rita Neri, chief executive officer and president of Rita Neri Event Planners, the Philippines premier event planning and consultancy company with over 20 years experience. Name a major event, and Rita is surely behind it, with her innovativeness and impeccable taste, any successful affair has to have the Rita touch and trademark!
