A LOT of happenings took place here during my 3-week break in the land of Uncle Sam.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t here for the 60th wedding anniversary celebration of my beloved Tio Pabling and Tia Inday Garcia. The evening affair began with a Thanksgiving Mass at the Grand Ballroom of the Marco Polo Plaza followed by a sumptuous dinner.

Beaming faces at the party were the couple’s children: Rep. Gwen, Dierdre who came all the way from the USA; Dumanjug Mayor Nelson, Byron, Marlon and Pablo John and their families. Absent were Winston and Farla who were out of the country.

Another anniversary celebration was the renewal of vows of golden couple Sotero and Virginia Villarino before Fr. Raul Salgado at the chapel of the Archbishop’s Palace.

The 50th anniversary dinner was held at Casino Español with the couple’s four lovely daughters on the frontline: Menchie Villarino, Jenevel V. Bastinen, Maricle V. Hortelano and Joan V. Llorente.

It was a grand bridal fair that Cebu City Marriott Hotel organized this year. Aptly dubbed I Do - Marry Me at the Marriott, the bridal fair featured 40 of Cebu’s top wedding suppliers including 15 of Cebu’s finest designers, wedding planners, florists, jewelers, etc. Jetting in from Manila was the acknowledged dean of wedding planners, Rita Neri who gave a workshop to her counterparts in Cebu. Highlight of the event was a bridal fashion show with a Philip Rodriguez creation opening the presentation, and two of Jun Escario’s gowns for the finale.

Don't miss the last few days of Sabores de España, a Spanish foodfest at Cafe Marco of Marco Polo Plaza. The lunch and dinner buffet feature favorite Spanish dishes.

Tomorrow’s big bash is the cocktail gathering in celebration of Plantation Bay’s 18th year of existence. Venue is the resort’s Orion Beach.

Kasaulogan sa Bluewater on Saturday, the 19th, is the silver anniversary celebration of Bluewater Resorts’ 25 years of Amuma. It will be a Fiesta Filipiniana affair.
