GMA NETWORK proudly announced that it has forged a partnership with the organizer of Miss World Philippines as the media partner of this year’s pageant come September.

The contract signing was held at the GMA Network Center last July 4, and was attended by the network’s top officials such as GMA chairman and chief executive officer Atty. Felipe L. Gozon, GMA senior vice president for Entertainment TV Lilybeth G. Rasonable, GMA assistant vice president for Corporate Communications Angela Javier-Cruz, GMA senior program manager for Entertainment TV Bang U. Arespacochaga and program manager for Entertainment TV Ali Nokom-Dedicatoria.

Organizer Cory Quirino considers GMA as the pageant’s home as it was at GMA that the Miss World Philippines brand was launched in 2011 which immediately produced a first runner-up and eventually a winner.

This year, the country’s first Miss World titleholder, Megan Young, will make her historic first walk on Philippine stage which will be covered and aired over GMA 7.

Atty. Gozon was reportedly quite happy with the development, it signifying the organizer’s trust with the network and the partnership’s getting stronger.

By the way, Atty. Gozon received his Ulirang Ama award along with former GMA Network president Menardo Jimenez, House Speaker Sonny Belmonte, DOTC Secretary Jun Abaya, UP president Alfredo Pascual and Court of Appeals Justices Elihu Ybañez and Francisco Acosta during the 21st Ulirang Ama Awards given last month during the Father’s Day celebration itself.

Organized by the National Mother’s Day and Father’s Day Foundation Inc., the award “recognizes outstanding Filipino fathers who have shown success in their professional lives while fulfilling their role as head of their respective families.”

The acknowledgement of fathers’ efforts and sacrifices in the home is slowly catching up with those given to mothers which had long hugged the limelight as far as management of homes and families are concerned.

After their successful team-up in one of the entries in last year’s Metro Manila Film Festival, the horror movie Pagpag, and the top-rating television series Got To Believe, today’s hottest teen love team of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla will be back with another Star Cinema 20th anniversary treat, She’s Dating the Gangster.

The movie is the big screen adaptation of the best-selling Filipino novel of the same title written by Bianca Bernardino and is directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.

The film features the special participation of the all-time favourite love team of Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta together with Khalil Ramos, Igi Boy Flores, Marco Gumabao, Pamu Pamorada, Alexander Diaz, John Uy and Yana Asistio.

Promo diva, Josie Pereyra excitedly announced the Cebu visit of Kathryn and Daniel on Monday, July 14, that’s two days prior to the movie’s opening in movie houses nationwide. The duo will be performing live for their fans at the covered parking area of SM City Cebu.

Are you among those who feel the so-called kilig over the teen stars? Then unleash that kilig through admiring screams and shrieks when the movie debuts.

The invasion of Cebuanos in national contests, whether beauty- or talent-related, continues as some aspirants have recently conquered the hearts of the judges of the said contests.

Recently, two Cebuanas had reportedly been picked to be in the next level of the Gandang Babae contest in It’s Showtime. In The Voice Kids, two promising singers made it to Team Lea and Team Bamboo.

I missed the performance of the Team Lea pick but I saw Juan Carlos Lavajo’s. Coaches Lea Salonga and Bamboo were both impressed with his versatility in switching to heart-rending songs from being a natural comic in his past performances.

I hope Cebuanos and other Visayan-speaking televiewers will once again support the bids of these gifted individuals in one way or another and play a part in their struggle and endeavor to reach their dreams.
