I’M not sure if comedienne Pokwang was serious or was just being in character when she announced in Aquino & Abunda Tonight that it has been 15 years she has been celibate.
When Kris asked her (with disbelief painted on her face) how she managed to do that, Pokwang, without batting an eyelash, answered: “Tiniis ko na lang” to which Kris let out her signature laughter.
Was that the reason why she was said to be so cooperative in her bed or sexy scenes with leading man Zanjoe Marudo that it took them one whole day to shoot this particular scene?
Oh! A foreigner, presumably a Canadian, was said to have described her as “different and hot” when Pokwang and company went to Canada recently. In fairness, Pokwang, if not in character as comedienne, is a pretty woman.
Anyway, the movie My Illegal Wife, with Pokwang in the title role opposite Zanjoe, opened last Wednesday, June 11, which was a very opportune time as the following day was a holiday, being the country’s Independence Day.
Angela Javier Cruz, the new AVP for corporate communication of GMA 7, met some Cebu entertainment writers and broadcasters at Laguna Garden in Ayala Center Cebu.
She mentioned, among other things, the new dance program of Marian Rivera, which will debut on television on Saturday, June 21 (after Vampire Ang Daddy Ko). The actress treats televiewers with the glamorous and fun facet of her personality as never been seen before.
She’s out to establish herself as the most beautiful dance diva in the self-titled show. She’ll be working with the best choreographers, dance crew and celebrity artists. She’ll share the limelight with Kapuso pop superstar Julie Anne San Jose and Paolo Ballesteros. Director is Louie Ignacio with Rommel Gacho as head writer.
Saturday nights will then be more exciting.
And so, that was the Cebuano kid who made it to The Voice Kids. It’s a given that he possesses a good voice but his stage presence and comedic timing were very hard to ignore.
In fact, coach Bamboo himself admitted that he will learn from Juan Carlos Lavado on how to time the punch lines with matching facial expression to come up with a comic effect.
However, the good-looking kid with foreign blood tends to be over-confident in my own assessment. Having judged some contests with different personalities vying for top honors and the accompanying prizes clash and strive to outdo each other, sensing over-confidence in contestants easily turns me off and reward the trait with a rather low score.
I hope the advisers of Juan Carlos have sensed this and will try to convince his/her ward to temper the tendency before televiewers get turned off and refuse to back him up with text votes when needed.
We were turned into fowls. Yes, one group became ducks, another became chickens and we became turkeys. That was what happened during the teambuilding activity that the personnel of the Provincial Information Office underwent last week.
In my opinion, the choice of Danasan Eco-Adventure Park in the mountains of Danao City was perfect. It has a wide space and we did not need lots of shade from trees because the breeze that constantly blew was enough to cool us off.
Most of all, the air was so fresh, something that city dwellers do not enjoy. I’m even wondering if young city dwellers who rarely or have not had the privilege of going out of the city can differentiate between fresh, unadulterated air and smoke-, dust-filled air.
In that activity, we let our hair down and did what the facilitators told us to do. It was educational, humbling, inspiring, invigorating and, most of all, fun-filled. In my two decades of working at the Capitol, it was the first time that such an activity was introduced to the workers.
Personally, I can confidently say that it was a success. May the objective of the activity for all departments be achieved and redound to further productivity among the employees. Take a bow, Gov. Junjun Davide, for spearheading such human resource development program.
