SILKAIR Agents Night 2014 at the ballroom of the Cebu City Marriott Hotel honored the airline's top producing travel agents. On the frontline was Rama Chandran Menon, SilkAir's manager-Philippines, who with his staff warmly welcomed each and every guest. The evening's superstars were all smiles... Angelita Dy of Grand Hope Travel, Cecilia Pepito of Travelways and Marget Villarica of Destination Specialists who were the Gold awardees; and Silver awardees Andrew Teh of Global Link, Ching Villamor of Blue Horizons, Aida Uy of Cebu Fortune Travel, and Cherrypie Callelero and Kathleen Lim of Grand Holdiays.

The fun part of the program was the "Agent Got Talent" portion where the different travel agencies presented musical numbers. Grand winner were the performers of Destination Specialists who did an eye-popping dance. Second prize winner were the singing talents of Grand Hope Travel, while third place went to the singer of Grand Holidays.



Ayala Center recently presented Botong Francisco: A Nation Imagined at The Gallery.

The traveling exhibit paid tribute to our National Artist for Visual Arts who died in 1969. Featured were large scale paintings from public and private collections, of which one of the best known is his Maria Makiling. Present on opening day was Kenneth Esguerra, senior curator of the Ayala Museum who together with Ayala Center manager Bong Dy cut the ceremonial ribbon.


Over at Qube Gallery of The Henry Hotel, artist Dominic Rubio took centerstage during the opening of his La Familia Cebuana exhibit. Considered a master of neo-genre painting, Rubio finds inspiration in our rich heritage as a country and as a people.

The exhibit which ended last week was made possible through the efforts of Qube's Maris Holopainen and Jon Gotiong.


Coming up at The Terraces of Ayala Center on May 31 at 8pm, is a dance performance of the Pockemon Crew, a French hip-hop group who won the 2012 French Battle of the Year.

Earlier in the day, from 1 to 3 p.m., there's a free hip-hop workshop at Alliance Francaise de Cebu, 371 Gorordo Ave.


Ongoing at the Museum of Native Art (MoNA) at West Gorordo Hotel is the traveling exhibition of mixed media art by Paulina Constancia entitled Moments of Motherhood.

Paulina has made use of scrap fabric and other materials and integrated them into her paintings to underscore the shared moments between mother and child. Exhibit is on till June 17.


The Cebu Chapter of the Publishers Association of the Philippines Inc. (Papi) will host next year's national press congress here in our beloved city. As early as now, Papiveep for the Visayas Andy Manatad and Cebu chapter president Engr. Greg Senining are already laying the groundwork for the expected 400 or so delegates.
