MANY things are a-cooking at the Radisson Blu Hotel with the stepping in of a new general manager (GM) in the person of Sri Lankan Nishan Silva. There is the Dilmah Tea Bar in the works and a Flying Chef soon to take off, among others. The Flying Chef is an innovative idea where the hotel offers to have one of its chefs personally cook for a party in a private house. Possibilities are endless for this kind of service.

Princes Anderle, the hotel's new director of marketing and communications, can tell you more about it. Yes, Radisson Blu is all set to make waves with exciting new concepts.

Outgoing regional manager Hyung Soo Kim of Korean Air and incoming regional manager Park Jung Wook were the frontliners at a dinner party with travel agents at the poolside of Marco Polo Plaza. It was a getting-to-know-you affair for Park and Cebu's travel people; while it was a till-we-meet-again interchange between Kim and his friends in the industry.

Erma Cuizon was the lady-of-the-hour during the launching of her books at the Cathedral Museum. Excerpts from Woman Collected Essays and Twilight in Misamis (Josefa Borromeo Capistrano's Guerrilla Days) were read by her friends from Women in Literary Arts (Wila) of which she is the founding chairperson.

Erma, an editorial consultant of Sun.Star Cebu,is the recipient of a Philippine Free Press award. She has published two books of essays, a collection of short stories and a novel. In addition, she has put together an anthology of essays by writers in the Visayas and Mindanao, and a compilation of short stories by women writers/members of Wila.

It was a sultry summer night at the poolside of the Cebu City Marriott Hotel when GM Patrick Carroll hosted the monthly GM's Cocktails. The event is exclusively for the Marriott Rewards members who have reached Gold and Platinmum status for their frequent stays in Marriott Hotel properties worldwide. However media friends were invited to that particular affair.

A White Cocktail Pary was the latest happening at 32 Sanson by Rockwell when Dedon (the leader in the all-weather furniture trade) unveiled its new all-white collection.

The trendy pieces were definitely eye-poppers!

The city's hip and young crowd were all there for the launch of Topshop and Topman's Spring Summer 2014 Collection at Ayala Center. Group Brand manager Sharon Ugot happily shared that the brands have received a warm response from the Cebu market. Present for the upbeat happening were influential fashion bloggers/style setters Lissa Kahayon and David Guison who dished out fashion tips and their takes on the latest trends.

It was definitely a fun affair with plenty of drinks, hors d'oevres, good music and warm company! Kudos to Bigseed's Jaja Chiongbian Rama and Vanessa Deen who organized the event.
