AN international fashion player marked its entry in Cebu over the weekend.

Petit Bateau, a French-based apparel brand for children, opened its 65-square meter branch in the third level of Ayala Center Cebu’s new wing on Saturday.

Hans Clifford O. Yao of Adrenaline Group of Companies, which is the official distributor of Petit Bateau products in the Philippines, said the brand’s entry is marked by the demand for children’s apparel in Cebu and Cebuano parents’ lack of choices, especially on international brands for their kids’ clothes.

First for Cebu

“I believe Petit Bateau is the first international brand (for children) in Cebu,” Yao said.

Petit Bateau has already opened two branches in Manila through the Adrenaline Group of Companies. After its opening in Cebu, Yao said they will open another branch in Manila.

Petit Bateau, which literally means “small boat”, offers clothes and footwear for new born babies and children up to 12 years old. It also has “adult” clothes fit for teenagers.

Products of the brand are manufactured in Troyes, France and adopt the Oeko-Tex standard, “a high quality of cotton” ideal for babies.

Okeo-Tex clothes are said to be non-carcinogenic, non-allergenic, and non-toxic, which makes it safer and risk-free for sensitive skin.

Yao said Oeko-Tex is the only type of cotton accepted in Japan.

The 120-year-old brand initially focused on kids’ underwear but the brand very quickly became a baby care specialist. It came up with the “maternity case”, a comprehensive list of products for newborn babies.

Adrenaline Group of Companies maintains its office in Pasig City and also acts as distributors of Adidas, Converse, Ahava, and Puma.
