THE members of Cebu Artists Inc. have an ongoing exhibit at Ayala Center Cebu entitled Unity in Diversity. Guests of honor on opening day were Genevieve Benedicto,. Armida Caguitla, Celeste Dy, Ethel de Ganck, Devin Go, Dr. Jorgen Lim, Dennis Lu and Dr. Nilo Vergara.


Ace golfer Greg Norman (yes, he was ranked as the world’s No. 1 golfer in the '80s and the '90s) was in town to launch his Greg Norman Estate Wines which will be exclusively available at Bibendum Wines along Banilad Road. His mother-in-law Margie Richards Taylor (who owns Bibendum Wines) honored him with cocktails and dinner at her well-appointed home in Country Club Village. The guest list included Cebu’s golf and wine enthusiasts.


Greg who was called the Great White Shark during his heydey in golf, is the founder of Great White Shark Ltd., an enterprise that includes a golf course design company, eye wear, real estate and wine.


Ambassador Frank Benedicto is a great favorite among the members of the fourth estate because he touches base with them regularly. The most recent one was a lauriat lunch he hosted at the newly renovated Grand Convention Center.


Architect Isabel “Chabeng” Garcia celebrated her birthday with a lunch affair at her beautiful home in Northtown. It was an intimate gathering of family and extended family which began with a Eucharistic celebration officiated by Fr. Lando Manayon, parish priest of Toledo.


Fashion designer Mia Arcenas took centerstage at the end of the show featuring her new collection for Spring/Summer 2014. The fashion show presented by Zee Lifestyle was held at the Oakridge Pavillion.


Celeste Rodriguez dabbles in painting when she is not busy with her Manulife commitments. Her works were recently displayed at 32 Sanson Road during the Graduation Class Exhibit of her batch. By the way, Lesty and Mom Susan with brod Carlo just came
back from an Australia-New Zealand cruise. Welcome back!


After a long absence from the Cebu scene, Joey Yu, son of our dear friends Nono and Myn, came home for a visit with wife and daughter in tow.

Joey was based in California for sometime where he met Silja Gebhard from Germany who is now his wife. They have a baby daughter Sophie. Mom Myn organized a welcome dinner for them at the family residence in Maria Luisa. They will be making their home in Metro Manila to help in the family business.


Recent Cebu visitors were Hans and Cherrie Gross from Germany; and from the land of Uncle Sam, Linda Abarquez Laconico, Boy and Virgie Tan with daughter Lally; Jim and Tina O’Brian; Pete and Lydia Juezan who were all warmly welcomed by relatives and friends at one time or other in various gatherings.
