CEBU CITY—Innamorata main cast members Max Collins, Luis Alandy and Dion Ignacio were Cebu-bound on Saturday for the soap opera’s regional promo tour in the Queen City of the South.

Prior to heading to the Kapuso Mall Show at Gaisano Grand Fiesta Mall Tabunok, the trio spent time with select media members at Abaseria Deli & Café in Kasambagan, Cebu City to talk about their experience with the afternoon block series which debuted last Feb. 17 on GMA Network.

The word innamorata is “in love” in Italian. So to say, Max, Luis and Dion seemed to be “innamorata” with their latest showbiz stint.

Sun.Star Cebu (SSC): How are you doing with Innamorata or with your show biz career in general?

Max Collins (MC): Pressure is on. Less sleep (laughs). When the show started, sabi ko talaga, “Lord, ikaw na ang bahala.” After Innamorata, I’ll be shooting for indie film Remembering Ada. Produced in Qatar, the movie, which is told in English, is a love story between a Filipino guy and a Muslim girl.

Luis Alandy (LA): I just signed a contract with GMA last January ‘tas a role in Innamorata agad. I feel blessed and lucky. I’m 34 but somehow, I’m linked with the younger generation. Another reason to feel lucky (laughs).

If I were to say, I am yet to accomplish a lot in show biz. The last thing you want to do is to be complacent. Every year, you pour dedication into what you do. You don’t get contented. Ang dami pang characters out there na pwedeng gawin.

When I got in show biz—since I was accepted summer of 1997—I really thought it’s easy but I was rebuked. There are times you lose focus but work ethics lang talaga and competition mindset. Stay grounded. As much as possible, don’t be too loud. The less people know about you, the more you get them curious.

Dion Ignacio (DI): (With) taping, kinda gets you exhausted. For Innamorata, it’s on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. But masaya naman.

Hindi ko talaga pinangarap mag-artista but opportunity knocked, so there. I’m just taking my time. I’m still 27. Napag-aral ko na ang mga kapatid ko ‘tas I still get to do guitar duties with my metal band, Philia. Masaya ang show biz.

SSC: Is your role in Innamorata really something you’ve always wanted to do? What is your dream role?

MC: I was supposed to be cast in Carmela: Ang Pinakamagandang Babae sa Mundong Ibabaw drama series. I really cried when I was pulled out to star in Innamorata as Esperanza Cunanan instead. It’s really a challenge to portray the role—literally because putting prosthetics on my face for the role takes two hours alone. But it’s all good. Mas nararamdaman ko ang character.

Another side of me wanted to do comical works. I really dreamed of becoming a part of Bubble Gang but I just didn’t know how. Prayers really work. Now I’m in. It’s a dream come true. But dream role talaga? Pretty Woman. Kaya pa. I’m still 21 (laughs).

LA: I love to act. Edwin Manansala, Esperanzas’s love affair, is just among the many roles I’ve been wanting to do. As long as there are roles to render, I’ll continue to act. But I really wanted to project a role involving physical challenges like being deaf or blind.

But you know, looking up to Adolfo Alix Jr. among others, I’ve been working on directing (films). These industry players make me realize I really wanted to direct pala.

DI: I’m enjoying my role as Dencio Isidoro. Mas mabilis ko nararamdaman ang drama. But may setbacks pa rin kasi nga you have to get out of yourself to deliver effectively. But action roles or those of being in a band are something I really look forward to doing. Akong-ako na ‘yun. Mas makakarelate na ako.

SSC: As the story progresses, what should fans look forward to in Innamorata?

MC: Twist and Lola Alejandra’s flashbacks, paano naging Innamorata, kung saan nanggaling ang salita at kung ano ang hina-haunt ni Lola Alejandra.

LA: Thrill. More interesting love story. Abangan nila ang mga pagsubok na dadalhin ni Lola Alejandra.

DI: Abangan nila ang pag-amin ni Dencio kay Esperanza.
