Metro Cebu is crazy about running.
From the serious runners set to beat their personal records run after
run, to the wacky ones who aim to drop by the nearest fast food after reaching the finish line, everyone is getting into the spirit of adventure when hitting the road.
Here in this simple article are four suggested areas where people can train and sweat a little bit any day and time of the week. This isn’t your official list by the way, but take note that by the time you drop by any of these places for runners, expect to see a lot of health buffs sweating their bodies out already.
Cebu City Sports Complex
Considering that this track and field here at the sports complex have been present for decades, then the rubberized tracks are fairly new as the whole area was renovated a few years back. Needless to say, to see
runners run in a place designed for running is a no-brainer.
Cebu Business Park
It could get pretty busy here most especially if people decide to run during peak hours (which may also have its share of pros considering that
vehicles are stuck in traffic, instead of zooming past by you at high speeds). But anyway, this place has a lot of blocks, corners and grids to it, so plotting one’s run route could be fun.
Remember to run on the side of the road that’s against the flow of vehicles!
Yes, the Cebu Memorial Park. The place may creep out some people. (It is a cemetery to begin with). But the idea that foot traffi c is less and speeding vehicles are of little to no concern should entice runners to
give the place a try. One reason this place is popular for some joggers is the two-kilometer loop it has.
Cebu IT Park
Sometimes the enemy of a runner’s mind is the boredom that goes with the routine. Jogging at the IT Park keeps it fresh and the scenery is always something. The crowd’s more hip and establishments that surround you are always teeming with life. If you want early morning jogs that end with a good breakfast, this is a good place.
If running at these places does not challenge you enough, then there are numerous routes you could plot for yourself for a good road run. Just remember to keep safe, avoid vehicles and run on the streets that are well lit and with a good number of pedestrians. Metro Cebu is crazy about running, and from the looks of it, there’s no getting off this “trendmill” anytime soon.
