Simply fabulous

LOOKING “effortlessly fabulous” is a style mantra that’s easier said than done. How to stand out without overdoing it? Or how to play it cool without looking sloppy? It’s a tricky act that ironically requires a certain degree of effort—and for this summer, perfecting casual yet eye-catching ensembles is the way to go.

The first rule in achieving that effortlessly fabulous look is to go for clothing items that, more than anything, are comfortable. Comfort is key here, and in this piercing heat, wearing something otherwise will definitely show in the body language.

Go for sizes and fits that allow extra movement in the summer activities lined up, and eyewear with UV protection to brave the unforgiving heat in.

For ladies, fashion blogger Alexa Martin says that this is the season to make use of clothing pieces that bear striking embellishments, and to have confidence in going out in bold colors and prints. In a styling collaboration, some of her recommended pieces were an embroidered denim romper and floral-printed mini, which apart from its sharp details, are also loosely fit and relaxing for the wearer.

As for the gents, Alexa suggests to “secure a good pair of shorts, as it forms the cornerstone of your summer wardrobe.” It can be paired with casual tops for daytrips to the beach, and can be dressy enough when worn with a chambray shirt. “Accessorize it further with trendy eyewear, and canvas or woven leather belts,” she adds.
