IT'S getting to be a habit, and owner Jason Hyatt could not be prouder. His internationally-renowned Abacá Boutique Resort + Spa has just gotten top honors again on Trip Advisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards 2014, including the #1 spot on the Top 10 Small Hotels in the Philippines list.

Trip Advisor reviewers have also voted Cebu’s own picturesque, private paradise resort #1 among the Top 25 Luxury Hotels in the Philippines, up from their #3 ranking last year. It has also garnered 2nd place in a new category, Top 25 Hotels for Romance in the Philippines. It’s a no-brainer then that Abacá Boutique Resort + Spa is ranked the #1 hotel in Mactan.

Trip Advisor’s annual hotel popularity contest is based on millions of traveler reviews and opinions, and what makes it special is that they are written not by travel industry professionals or by writers who get paid to critique a place but by the average traveler who wants to share their experience. And the site’s traveler reviews of Abacá boast of nothing short of a fantastic experience.

Superlatives are used to describe the complete holiday destination, including their blissful oceanfront spa, 6 sumptuous suites and 3 sprawling villas designed in a distinctive contemporary Filipino style, and first-rate restaurant whose dishes reflect the beautiful simplicity and ease of resort life. On top of all these luxurious amenities though, what seems to repeatedly awe Abacá’s fans is their personalized service where reviews have ranged from “we were treated like royalty” to “we were shocked by their efficiency, flexibility and the amount of service they provided.”

Jason credits his team’s hard work and dedication in going the extra mile for their guests. “The awards are testament to what a great team I have. It’s really not about me, it’s about them,” he said, referring to General Manager Glenn Ylanan and Executive Chef Patrick McCarthy, and the rest of his 50-person staff at Abacá. “I am very lucky to have the team that I have. I am also very thankful for the travelers who took time to share their experiences on Trip Advisor,” he continued, “To keep up our standards, we are constantly upgrading our facilities to give our guests the best experience we can possibly offer.”

It sounds like they’re continuously upping the ante for themselves, so guests can look forward to their next stay at Abacá Boutique Resort + Spa.

Abacá Boutique Resort + Spa is located on Punta Engaño Road, Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan, Cebu. For bookings and inquiries, e-mail reservations@abacáresort.com or visit www.abacáresort.com.
