A LUKEWARM introduction. That’s all it was for Steph and Carlo. It was 2008. Strangers became acquaintances. Acquaintances became friends. Friends became lovers. Lovers got hitched. The two were officially pronounced Mr. And Mrs. Villarica last Jan. 25, some weeks before Feb. 14. So how’s Heart’s Day gonna be now as Starlo (Steph and Carlo)?

The then boyfriend and girlfriend usually celebrate Valentine’s Day over a nice dinner. Finding a nice restaurant is always a good idea. Carlo recalled they needed to reserve the table and go early to avoid traffic because it’s always tough on Valentine’s Day. On who’s more insistent on celebrating the occasion, the husband tagged the wife.

For Steph, partners should enjoy quality time with each other not only on Valentine’s Day but every day.

“It doesn’t always have to be in anywhere fancy. What’s important is being able to give both yourselves the time to just talk and spend time with each other. The nice dinners and surprises are just really the icing on the cake,” she said.

Carlo isn’t really good at celebrating special occasions but he thinks it’s more important to be good at the everyday stuff.

“Valentine’s Day is nice but being good for each other on a regular basis is more important,” he advised.

This coming Valentine’s weekend, the Villaricas will be flying to Cagayan De Oro to attend a wedding of one of Carlo’s closest friends. Steph said they are most likely to celebrate the day with the whole gang.

“Game for it, we’ll probably spend it with friends. Our first Valentine’s group date,” Carlo said.Strangers became newly weds. Newly weds are both thrilled for their first Valentine’s Day together.
