Sunday, January 26, 2014
THERE'S no need to travel far to taste the different street foods of foreign countries. Ulli’s Streets of Asia has brought to Cebu the flavors from of Hong Kong, Singapore, and Japan.
Ulli’s is the fifth brand of the Laguna Group, which took inspiration from Lemon Grass. Ulli’s is a compilation of the famous street foods in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Japan. More food items will be added in Ulli’s menu soon.
Filipinos love street food which makes the restaurant quite apt to the hungry stomachs of Cebuanos.
Raki Urbina, managing director and corporate chef of the Laguna Group, said that it took a year to conceptualize and develop Ulli’s as a brand.
He had to travel to these countries four to five times in order to immerse and learn the taste of their food. They also had consultants from these countries in order to create authentic dishes.
“It’s like you already travelled in Asia,” Urbina said. The restaurant has an open kitchen that amplifies its street food feel. The interior is industrial and low-key that accentuates their good food. Customers who are in a hurry can opt to have their orders to-go, which is the first for the Laguna Group.
Ulli’s Streets of Asia is located at the rooftop garden of the new wing in Ayala Center Cebu. (ADO)
