(CLAI), in cooperation with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts-National Committee on Archives (NCCA-NCA), conducted a one-day “Seminar-Workshop on Basic Records Management and Disaster Preparedness for the Archives” last Nov. 11, 2013, at the Exhibit Room, Josef Baumgartner Learning Resource Center at the University of San Carlos, Talamban campus, Cebu City.

The seminar-workshop was aimed at helping archivists and records officers gain new insights from experts on the proper organizing and handling of archival materials, and increase their knowledge in preparing a disaster preparedness manual for archives.

The activity was attended by the records in-charge, librarians, staff and justices of the different institutions and offices in Cebu Province, namely, Cebu City Medical Center-College of Nursing, Cebu International School, Cebu Institute of Technology University, Cebu Normal University, Court of Appeals (Cebu City), Cebu Technological University main campus, Department of Education, Philippine Christian Gospel School, St. Alphonsus Catholic School, St. Mary’s Academy, St. Paul College Foundation Inc., St. Theresa’s College-Museum, University of Cebu-Banilad, University of the Philippines Cebu, University of San Carlos, University of San Jose-Recoletos, University of Southern Philippines Foundation and the local government units from the towns of Barili, Dalaguete, and Minglanilla, and the cities of Carcar and Talisay.
