NOTHING turns a man on more than his own set of wheels and motors, just as nothing tickles a woman more than a review of the latest fashion forecast.

Can you imagine what would happen if we present these two together? Why you’ll have “Gear and Glam, Avenues of the World,” the title of the high-caliber fashion and luxury car show held at the Northwing of SM City Cebu.

It was a bigger and definitely more sophisticated show, and featured members of the Fashion Council of Cebu and Cars of the Performance and Classic Car Enthusiasts, who jetted guests and mall viewers to the world’s fashion capitals.

Couturiers Edwin Ao and OJ Hofer took the guests to Tokyo’s Harajuku streets, in their sleek silhouettes and were accompanied by Harold Ong Badiles 2009 Nissan GTR, and Chris Aldeguer’s 1998 Lotus Elise. Welcome to the rues (streets) of Paris, haute couture center, with the romantic numbers of Jun Escario and Arcy Gayatin, side by side with Glenn Soco’s 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder and Bobby Aboitiz’s 1955 Mercedes Benz 190 SL.

Through the streets della moda of Milan, mannequins in Yvonne Quisumbing’s and Vania Romoff’s textured pieces, stepped down from Glenn Soco’s 1967 Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider and Kenneth Cobonpue’s 1988 Ferrari GTS then on to classy London, where the quirky designs of Albert Arriba and Ditas Rodrigues were joined by Grand Benedicto’s 1965 Jaguar Kougar and Kenneth Cobonpue’s 1961 Jaguar E type Roadster.

Destination Russia—through Moscow’s pulsating streets, strutted models in Philipp Tampus’ and Cary Santiago’s opulent and elegantly crafted collection as Jay Aldeguer’s 1962 Porsche 356b and Mike Jo’s Volkswagen Notchback. Lastly, in the Big Apple (New York), Philip Rodriguez and Rey Santos’ cinema-inspired gowns took the Oscars, as they were escorted by Darren Deen’s 1960 Chevy Corvette CI and Louie Uy Masuy’s 1966 Pontiac GTO.

The finale had all the fashion designers, mannequins and car enthusiasts taking their well-deserved bow, to the deafening applause of the crowd. What a show! Happy 2014 everyone! Hoping this is a better one than last.
