WITH the boom of the real-estate industry in Cebu, there is a flourishing demand for home furnishing and finishing products.

Although the long stretch of A.S. Fortuna St. with its numerous establishments dedicated to almost everything home-related, has evolved to meet this need, high-end brands remained inaccessible until the opening of the Design Center of Cebu last year.

Envisioned to give convenience to the A-market, the Design Center of Cebu is a one-stop hub for premier brands. The three-storey building currently has 15 specialized tenants showcasing various top-notch home furnishing and finishing products.

Everything one can possibly need for their home can be found at the Design Center: from lighting fixtures at Ital Illuminazionne and Thomson Lighting Showroom; flooring necessities at Design Source and Metro Tiles; kitchen appliances, accessories and fittings at Smeg, Häfele, The Ambiance by Garden Barn, Inc., and Blum; imported bathroom fixtures at Robins Home Depot; and furniture at Allison Tyler.

The Design Center also has the showroom for Focus Global Inc., the exclusive distributor of brands such as SieMatic, Miele International, Sub-Zero & Wolf, InSinkErator and Tempur Mattresses and Pillows; Mobelhaus Kitchens & Closets, a proudly Cebuano brand that offers kitchen customizing services; as well as the Contemporary Arts Gallery for frames, artworks, scuptures and masterpieces.

To complement the Design Center experience are a conference center with an outdoor alfresco area ideal for meetings and conferences, and high-end Italian restaurant Tavolata. According to the Design Center's Head of Leasing Eppy Acusar, a more fine-dining outlet of Vietnamese kitchen Phat Pho. Both restaurants are by The Abaca Group.
