Docu film festival to hold film market, broadcast expo

ORGANIZERS of the Cebu International Documentary Film Festival (CIDFF) is introducing a new event this year to boost the local film industry. Called the Cebu Film Market and Broadcast Expo (CFMBx) 2014, the event will be held on Aug. 25 and 26 at the Aegean, Adriatic and Caspian Rooms of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino.

CFMBx 2014 is seen to gather cinephiles in and out of Cebu to market a cause and raise the industry’s potential to integrate into the global market. Filmmakers, producers, and financiers are set to interact and invest, and be involved with various media industry players to establish a globally-acclaimed film market for Cebu.

3rd CIDFF 2014 president Lilu Aliño said, “The Cebu Film Market and Broadcast Expo is an avenue for buyers worldwide to invest in Cebuano products and services. Filmmakers can submit film projects (fiction or non-fiction) and seek opportunities for funding and recognition.”


CFMBx 2014 has attracted filmmakers, producers and investors from Cebu, Manila, the
US, UK, Spain, India and Thailand.

CIDFF Executive director April Dequito said that, “The Cebu Film Market features a range of multi-media brands, integrated film groups or institutions, broadcast media networks, independent manufacturers/suppliers, campaign movements and other creative businesses in the film industry. Cebu will be a hub and the world will be looking at us. That’s why I highly encourage Cebu’s industry players to take part of this event.”
