Expedia awards Waterfront for engagement, revenues

WATERFRONT Cebu City Hotel and Casino (WCCHC) recently won two Expedia awards.

The hotel bagged the Top Producing Hotel in the Four-Star Category and the Most Engaged Award in the 2014 Expedia Partner Awards Ceremony held at Cebu City Marriott Hotel.

This is the second year the hotel earned the award for Top Producing Hotel in its category.


According to Ma. Socorro Cotelo, WCCHC Corporate Planning director, the recognition from Expedia is a testament to the hotel’s “top quality product and excellent service.”

“This shows that our gracious customer care program, a top priority training of our hotel, is effectively working. It also shows the success of our online travel booking by partnering with Expedia,” said Cotelo.

Expedia is an online travel company with an extensive brand portfolio that includes some of the world’s leading online travel brands. The Expedia Partner Awards is an annual recognition of its partner hotels and travel service companies.

What the Top Producing Hotel award means is that WCCHC generated the most number of room nights in terms of room revenue from April 30, 2013 to April 30, 2014. The hotel, through its partnership with Expedia, generated some P33 million in room revenue, which is equivalent to a total of 10,000 total room nights for the period.

The hotel also received a score of 4.1 out of five in terms of reviews and a “high” guest recommendation rating of 88 percent.

Cotelo said their ability to adapt to trends such as online travel booking allowed them to capture a particular market.

“Our online local market is quite strong followed by our Southeast Asian neighbors, as well as the United States. Most of them are leisure and business travelers booking online,” she said.

To attract new guests who are tech-savvy, Cotelo said they are upgrading their services and encouraging guests to use their mobile app, which is available for iOs and Android devices and allows customers to book online.

The Most Engaged Award, on the other hand, is a recognition of the hotel’s promotions, merchandising campaigns and exclusive deals. Cotelo said the hotel effectively communicates with Expedia’s market manager to use promotions, especially during lean periods.

WCCHC is part of the Waterfront Hotels & Casinos chain of properties nationwide.
