BEING a business process management company, recruitment is one of the things Convergys takes seriously. And rather than let applicants do all the hard work, they hope things can be easier if they can submit their applications using their smartphones.

Convergys director for recruiting Jon Escobar explained that they optimized their website,, for mobile devices, making things easier for those using smartphones to apply for a job.

Job applicants, he said, can submit their information in just five steps and get feedback within 24 hours of submission. He added that the jobs that can be seen are for all positions available for all Convergys locations, even those outside of Cebu and overseas.

Escobar said their mobile apply platform is suited to multi-taskers, who like to do things while waiting using their smartphones or tablets. “So you can apply for a job while you’re waiting for your food to be served or while you’re waiting in line for something,” he said.

ALL the information submitted is sent to the Convergys database for processing.

Through the mobile apply platform, Escobar said applicants can also choose the most convenient appointment time for interviews. He added that its convenience is for all types of mobile devices, whether these are high-end smartphones and tablets or the cheaper entry-level ones.

With things done online, Escobar said applicants save on transportation and printing costs. They can also manage their schedules better.

Launched worldwide last January, they are yet to receive information on how well the platform has worked. However, Escobar said that initially, those that have used it have given positive feedback.

In Cebu, Convergys operates in five sites–four of which are at the Cebu IT Park while the fifth is in Paseo Arcenas in Banawa. Though he could not reveal how many employees are currently working for them in Cebu, he assured they have a big presence.

Nationwide, the organization has 39,000 members.

Escobar said that if applicants would rather go the traditional route, their walk-in submission is still an option, as well as the application via job portal.
